Weems Westfeldt, a career instructor and writer, passed away May 3, 2024. He was 78.

Westfeldt grew up skiing in Boulder, Colorado. He attended high school in Switzerland and went on to Dartmouth College. He first taught skiing at Sugarloaf, Maine, then taught at Steamboat and Aspen, Colorado, and Taos, New Mexico. He served as ski school director at Coronet Peak, New Zealand.

Westfeldt skied on the PSIA National Demonstration Team during the 1974–1975 season. From 1999 to 2005, he was director of ski school operations across all the Aspen resorts and later worked as the Aspen Highlands ski school manager. He regularly wrote about technique and instruction and published the book Brilliant Skiing Every Day. Westfeldt developed the Diamond Method for training and was a long-time examiner for PSIA-Rocky Mountain.
