Dawn Hazelett, a beloved fixture of Vermont skiing, died October 14, 2015, of cancer. She was 92 years old.

Born in Essex, Vermont, Dawn spent her whole life in the Colchester area. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 1940, at age 18, and after World War II met and married the prolific inventor Bill Hazelett. The couple were a mainstay of social life at Stowe and maintained a summer home on Stave Island in Lake Champlain, where they entertained dozens of ski business pioneers. They were among the first heli-skiers, supporting Hans Gmoser’s early Canadian Mountain Holidays operation.

Bill Hazelett died in 2010. Dawn is survived by her son David and wife Wendy, daughter Susan Miller and husband Don, daughter Ann Cordner and husband Lee; and four grandchildren.
