About Skiing History Magazine

Current Issue:
Volume 27, No. 6 November-December 2015
November-December 2015 Issue Cover

Skiing’s adventure-filled past glows in the fact-packed pages of Skiing History. This unique, ad-free bimonthly informs and entertains readers at the same time as it raises public awareness of the sport’s heritage. Skiing History contains academic and popular ski history featuring profiles of the great racers and pioneers who have shaped the sport.

Regular departments in the magazine describe early technique and equipment, resorts, classic races and historic inns, book reviews, museum exhibits and openings. We have published research about the lost ski areas of the national parks, the history of indoor skiing, and report the latest prices from ski poster auctions. The magazine retains top ski writers Edith Thys, Jackson Hogen, Dick Dorworth and Nathaniel Vinton to interview great champions of the past.

Skiing History is created and edited by former chief editors and writers for national ski magazines and is overseen by an editorial review board of knowledgeable ski historians. The official journal of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum, Alf Engen Ski Museum and Canadian Ski Museum, it is the world’s premier periodical devoted to ski history.
