MISSION STATEMENT AND PROGRAMS

ISHA’s mission is to preserve skiing history
and to increase awareness of the sport’s heritage.

ISHA programs which support this mission include the following:

SKIING HERITAGE,
the journal of the International Skiing History Association,
is the world largest periodical devoted to ski history.

SKIING HERITAGE is also the official publication of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum, Ishpaming, Michigan;

The Canadian Ski Museum, Ottawa, Canada;

and the Alf Engen Ski Museum at Olympic Park, Park City, Utah.

The 48-page quarterly journal is 100% supported by ISHA membership fees.

SKIING HERITAGE contains carefully researched articles on great racers and pioneers who have shaped the sport. Regular departments in HERITAGE tell about early techniques and equipment, resorts, and old inns. There are book reviews and news of museum shows and openings.

SKIING HERITAGE is created by the former chief editors and writers for national ski magazines, and is overseen by an Editorial Review Board of knowledgeable ski historians.

The Editor is Dick Needham.

The Editorial Board includes: John Fry, Allen H. Adler, John Allen, John Henry Auran, Jeff Leich, Morten Lund, Hank McKee, Seth Masia, Doug Pfeiffer, and Donna Witchel.

The ISHA SKIING HERITAGE board-level Editorial committee is chaired by John Fry

Articles in HERITAGE over the past year have been authored by noted writers including Mort Lund, John Allen, John Fry, Seth Masia, Doug Pfeiffer, Bob Parker, John Caldwell, Valerie Smith, Roland Palmedo, Dinah Witchel, Hank McKee, and Dean Ericson.

The 48-page, full-color SKIING HERITAGE is printed on high quality paper, with the cover of each issue featuring some of the very best historical ski posters. SKIING HERITAGE is an instant collector’s item, treasured by subscribers who value the highly entertaining and informative contents and the great cover art.
