MISSION STATEMENT AND PROGRAMS ISHA’s mission is to preserve skiing history
ISHA programs which support this mission include the following: SKIING HERITAGE, SKIING HERITAGE is also the official publication of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum, Ishpaming, Michigan; The Canadian Ski Museum, Ottawa, Canada; and the Alf Engen Ski Museum at Olympic Park, Park City, Utah. The 48-page quarterly journal is 100% supported by ISHA membership fees. SKIING HERITAGE contains carefully researched articles on great racers and pioneers who have shaped the sport. Regular departments in HERITAGE tell about early techniques and equipment, resorts, and old inns. There are book reviews and news of museum shows and openings. SKIING HERITAGE is created by the former chief editors and writers for national ski magazines, and is overseen by an Editorial Review Board of knowledgeable ski historians. The Editor is Dick Needham. The Editorial Board includes: John Fry, Allen H. Adler, John Allen, John Henry Auran, Jeff Leich, Morten Lund, Hank McKee, Seth Masia, Doug Pfeiffer, and Donna Witchel. The ISHA SKIING HERITAGE board-level Editorial committee is chaired by John Fry Articles in HERITAGE over the past year have been authored
by noted writers including Mort Lund, John Allen, John Fry, Seth Masia,
Doug Pfeiffer, Bob Parker, John Caldwell, Valerie Smith, Roland Palmedo,
Dinah Witchel, Hank McKee, and Dean Ericson. Since 1989 (first as The Blizzard and then as Snow News in 1989 and 1990), more than seventy issues of the quarterly SKIING HERITAGE journal have been published. Under an arrangement with Google, these 70+ issues of SKIING HERITAGE have been scanned and placed in a searchable digital archive that is available on Google Books. Starting on skiinghistory.org, a click on “Google Books” takes the visitor to this site where every issue of SKING HERITAGE can be read on line. A visitor can go to an individual issue where the cover is displayed, go to the index, and view every page of the journal or an individual article of interest.
