How to use the text search tool To search the Skiing Heritage website, check the Site Search button. In the white rectangular box, enter the word or phrase you want to search for. This could be a name, a place, a topic, or a date. Click the Find button. You'll get a list of all the pages within this site which contain that word or phrase. You may go to each page in turn by clicking on its title. Hint: If you enter the phrase giant slalom, you'll get a list of all pages with giant slalom, but you'll also get all pages with slalom and all pages with giant. To narrow down the search, put "giant slalom" in quotes. Now the search will return only occurrences of the exact phrase. This feature is especially useful when you search for a name. For instance, searching for Hannes Schneider will return all pages with the names Hannes Nothnagl, Hannes Trinkl, etc, but "Hannes Schneider" in quotes will return only Hannes Schneider himself. Here's what a results page looks like: 1. JOHN
JAY (SKIING HERITAGE) 2. SKI
HISTORY DATES Y. (Friedl ) 1920-24 3. I.S.H.A.
Bulletin Board 4. Ski
Mag 41-59 Once you select a page, you may search for a word on that page using your browser's Find tool. Use Control-F to open the Find box, or go to the Edit menu (at the top of your screen) and select Find. When the Find box opens, use the white rectangular text box to type the word you're looking for. Then press the Find Next button. You can press the Find Next button repeatedly to find all occurrences of the word on that page.
