This is imho, the finest binding ever made! Well until they went to plastic after the n77's anyway. I still gladly ski several pair. My personal favorite is the last of the pre-plastic era n77's. Simply the best.

Agreed. Look was decades ahead of its time. The long-stroke toe had great return-to-center elasticity long before anyone else figured out its importance. And Looks were nearly bulletproof, made of thick machined aluminum castings instead of stamped steel. Good solid design and engineering all through the 50s, 60s and 70s. Salomon and the rest really didn't catch up until Look's patents expired in the '80s. Look did come late with a really good ski brake, though -- Took a long time to figure out how to make it work with the turntable.

I will throw the 727 into the discussion. The 727 was the first binding with an integrated and retractable brake, the heel design is the basis for all but a few bindings in todays generation on bindings and the first binding with upward compensation.
