Ericson named ISHA president Dean R. Ericson succeeds Hugh Harley Denver, December 1, 2007 – ISHA today announced the selection of Dean R. Ericson as its new President. He will assume the position on January 1, 2008. According to Jim Spring, ISHA Board Chairman, “The ISHA Board is pleased to have someone with the background and experience which Dean brings to the position." Ericson has served on the ISHA board since 2002 and is currently Vice Chairman of the Board. He chairs board succession and skiing history museum collaboration committees, and provides leadership for strategic planning, fund raising, and project initiatives including digital indexing and oral histories. Mr. Ericson has a media consulting background with Bortz Media & Sports Group, and recently served as Chairman, Rocky Mountain PBS. Ericson succeeds Hugh Harley who has held the President position for the past two and a half years. Mr. Harley, former Vice Chairman of Rossignol, has effectively led ISHA, as its first full time President, through an important transition period. Commenting on Hugh’s leadership, Spring said, “ISHA is indebted to Hugh for his tireless efforts on behalf of ISHA. The entire board offers its thanks to Hugh for his leadership of the organization. We are fortunate that Hugh will remain deeply involved in ISHA with his return to the ISHA board of directors.” The International Skiing History Association was founded by Mason Beekley in 1991. Its mission is “to preserve and advance the knowledge of ski history and to increase public awareness of the sport’s heritage.” ISHA publishes a high quality, informative, and entertaining quarterly, Skiing Heritage. A web site (skiing history.org) provides significant historical information and resources for researchers and writers. ISHA sponsors an annual Skiing Heritage Week (next in Aspen in 2008) as well as a European skiing trip in conjunction with Penny Pitou Travel. The organization also undertakes other skiing history initiatives, including digital indexing and oral histories projects. International Skiing History Association
