John Jay Memorial Issue
The
Winter Sport Of Skeeing by
Theodore Johnsen This
is the first North American book in English on the sport, the second oldest
in the world. Published in Portland, Maine in 1905, and written by a cabinet
maker turned ski maker. It captures abundantly the charm and nostalgia
of the earliest days of North American skiing. The book is an exact reprint
of the original with an added introduction and an afterword with the story
of Theodore Johnson. There are illustrations of early ski technique and
some of the first ski photographs taken in the U.S. There are also ample
illustrations of theskis and ski equipment that Johnson was selling. The
book is a time machine back to 1900 when skiing was an infant sport. Limited
quantity.
Skiing
Heritage Back Issues There are twelve years of back issues of Skiing Heritage available, way back to the year 1989. Early issues, when the magazine was called The Blizzard, then Snow News, sell for $10. To view issue contents, click here.
