Ski Hall of Fame
partner to increase member benefits
The International Skiing History Association and
the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame have agreed to offer common benefits
for a single membership fee. At the same time, ISHA is locating its
administration in the national ski museum building in Ishpeming, Mich.,
and its fund-raising office in New York City. Skiing Heritage
will now be published six times a year, up from four. This announcement
was made jointly by ISHA Chairman Barry Stone and Hall of Fame Chairman
Bernie Weichsel.

be celebrated March 26 as Phil and Steve Mahre are inducted into the
International Ski Hall of Fame as 2011 Legends of Honor in conjunction

ski jumping revived
Alissa Johnson and Willy Graves, both of Utah's Westminster College,
won the first U.S. Collegiate Nordic Ski Jumping National Championships
on March 5 -- the first collegiate ski jumping competition held in the
United States since the NCAA abandoned the sport in 1980. Read

New
world record in ski flying
Johan Remen Evensen set a new world record
for ski flying on Feb. 11, soaring 246.5 meters (808.7 feet) during
the inaugural meet on the new 225-meter hill at Vikersund, Norway. The
previous record was 239 meters, set in 2005 by Bjoern Einar Romoeren,
on the Planica hill in Slovenia. Read

History?

Snowsports Industries America (SIA) took advantage of the very successful
2011 trade show in Denver to announce the expansion of its recycling
program for ski equipment. . For a ski shop, it only makes sense to
encourage people to replace old stuff with new, and this is not the
first time SIA has sponsored a recycling campaign. Read
