Jim Salestrom - Singer, Skiing Ambassador

Singer-songwriter James Salestrom, who helped promote skiing in Colorado, died November 22, 2023, at his home in Arvada, Colorado, after a long battle with cancer. He was 67.

Born in Nebraska, Salestrom learned to ski during visits to Colorado. He eventually moved to Breckenridge, Colorado, where he married and raised his family.

Salestrom toured the world performing. He sang and played guitar in Dolly Parton’s band for decades and often performed with his friend John Denver, inevitably championing the Rocky Mountain lifestyle.

He worked closely with ski industry organizations and resorts, including Ski the Summit, Ski USA, Vail Resorts and Snowsports Industries America, performing at ski shows, press events, travel industry functions and resorts worldwide, introducing audiences to the allure of the Rocky Mountains.
